Alternative medicine

It's impossible to get mainstream healthcare (unless it's a real emergency) in this province, so I've decided to go the alternative health care route. Okay, that's not the only reason, I also really prefer natural, less invasive methods to some of the mainstream medical practices. I really appreciated my mid-wife when I had my last child. I will never go back to a hospital for childbrth. I know a girl who took her son to a chiropractor when he had an earache and it fixed the problem. I'd forgotten that, until I came across something recently written by another woman who regularly takes her daughter to a chiropractor for health care. I decided to look chiropractors and earaches up on the internet and came across this . Ear pain is the number one reason for child visits to chiropractors. Many chiropractors believe that there is a strong link between the birthing process and recurrent ear infection, also known as otitis media. During the birthing process, cervical (nec

I am so weary

I feel like I am constantly battling, struggling uphill, swimming against the current. I am constantly on people's backs to get their homework done. Gosh it would be sooooo much easier (and quicker) to just do it for them. (But of course I won't because how would they learn?) I tell them a hundred times to do something, and I find out it still isn't done. I can't watch all 5 of them 100% of the time to make sure they are doing what they ought to do. Why do teachers give so much homework to weary parents to do with their children anyway? I never got homework until high school. It didn't kill me not to "be prepared" for high school. I'm sure it made my parents' life easier. Then I feel like I am constantly battling on every issue out there, vaccines, abortion, euthanasia, marriage, is there no issue I agree with people around me on? I'm so tired. In my brain, in my body, in my soul. I just want to go to bed and not wake up for a year.

Freakin' Health System

Gotta love the health system here. We have 4 or 5 drop-in clinics. I have two boys with ear infections right now. I call the clinic closest to home at about 7:45. The message tells me that the clinic is only open at 9:00. So I call back at 9:00. At 9:00, I get a message telling me that the clinic is compete for today, no spots are available, please call back tomorrow from 8:00. What the h@#%!!! So I call all the other clinics and they are ALL already full, no spots available! Already all full, at 9:00 am. Where are all the doctors? Maybe I should just drive the 45 minutes to the border and pay to see an american doctor? It would probably take me less time to drive the 45 minutes, see the doctor and drive back, than to sit in the hospital all day. It is always pretty much the same, and it must be worse now that everyone is freaking out over H1N1. I don't want to try out the hospital. If you can go there and wait 6 hours in the waiting room wiht no H1N1, I shudder to think what it mu

Announcing the release...

Dear friend of Jeanne Chabot, PublishAmerica is proud to announce the recent release of Jeanne Chabot's new book: Be Not Afraid! Here's what the author says about the book: The day of her marriage, Isabella stands looking over the edge of her parents' terrace onto a busy passageway below. She desperately searches for a way out as she is faced with an arranged marriage she doesn't want. The daughter of a high-class couple, the man she loves is a common worker, outspoken in his fight for social justice in this society of the future which greatly resembles our past in many ways. Isabella has followed him in taking up the fight alongside other young men and women. This eventually leads to the death of one and the exile of the other. This is a story about keeping faith alive, fighting for what is right and never abandoning hope. It is also about finding love again where you did not expect it. We are offering you an opportunity to secure your personal copy of Jeanne Chabot’s

Seriously though...

In case it ever comes down to it... I hereby declare to the world at large my desire to be maintained alive with drink and water, in case I am ever in a coma or become extremely handicapped. If I have not been responding at all, for a reasonable length of time, and doctors believe me to be already brain dead, and I am on a respirator and machines to keep me alive, then please, by all means, unplug me. HOWEVER, if I am capable of breathing on my own but unconscious, or conscious and capable of movement, and perhaps even some communication, but unable to feed myself, then please DO NOT starve me to death, nor let me die of thirst! I do not wish to die such an excruciating death, and I wish to be kept alive, in case advances in science permit me to regain some kind of life, or in the case of a coma, I recover consicousness. Thank you very much.

Ignorant, backwards people like me should be thrown in jail.

I started writing this in my previous post about being backwards, but it got too big. My other post is about how tired I am of even having an opinion. It's not supposed to be about what that opinion is. So I decided to write a new post. So I'm stupid and backwards because I believe that the right to life of one person is worth more than the right to convenience of another. In no other case, besides abortion, would this be even an issue. The right to life would always win out. Except maybe when it comes to the right to life of severely handicapped or elderly ill people now. They seem to be going the same way as unborn children. I happen to have rather granola tendencies, and don't automatically believe everything doctors say. I had my last child at home, with a midwife, for example, and I would definitely do it again. So when all the hype over H1N1 came out, I went on the internet to see if anyone else said different. Turns out, a lot of doctors and other people do think it

A person gets tired

I'm a pretty typical person. I'm not the pillar of fashion, but neither am I frumpy. I enjoy rock and heavy metal as much as I enjoy classical music. I play sports and I taxi my children to soccer practices and games. I love Halloween and Christmas. I don't wear dresses very often, and don't recommend them for ordinary housekeeping. (They tend to get in the way.) I recycle, I prefer to buy large packages rather than individually wrapped packages (reduce), and I even re-use, when I can. Nothing very extraordinary there. Nothing that would make you think I was "one of those idiot radical conservatives". In fact, with my granola and social justice tendencies, and the fact that I am a Harry Potter fan instead of believing that the books are evil would probably make one think I was more liberal. But I suppose I am one of those backwards thinking radicals. I am so tired of being the fish that swims against the current. Why do I always have to pick the le
