My very first Poo-Pocket

Image
Here it is, modeled (of course) by Nicky himself, my very first Poo-pocket™ , complete with contour doubler : They aren't very hard to make, but with all the distractions and things to do in a day, it took me a whole three days just to get these two done (when it should have taken, maybe 2 hours max?). They were also the first, and I made some adjustments, so I was thinking about how to do that as well, so the next ones should take less time, hopefully. I have what, oh 19 more to do to get a whole good set? (He's growing out of the ones I currently have.)

Prayer

In fact, I strongly suspect that if we saw all the difference even the tiniest of our prayers to God make, and all the people those little prayers were destined to affect, and all the consequences of those effects down through the centuries, we would be so paralyzed with awe at the power of prayer that we would be unable to get up off our knees for the rest of our lives. Peter Kreeft, Angels and Demons, p.23. Ignatius Press, San Francisco, 1995 I strongly suspect this to be true myself, but I don't see it and I wish I could. There are any number of people out there (Peter Kreeft among them) who actually see good things coming out of the darkness of our present society. I have to admit, I can see at least one good thing, the whole Theology of the Body that Pope John Paul the II gave us, that we wouldn't have, had it not been for the "Culture of Death". But so few people even consider reading such a thing. Or is it just so few people around me? I have to say, I

Cold Season

Image
Everyone has a cold here, Gabriel and the baby have had it really bad, especially Nicolas. Nicolas has had a stuffy nose and temperature for the past 3-4 nights. I am getting really tired and especially cranky in the evenings. Everything seems to get on my nerves. I'm just too tired from being awake with the baby all the time.

Dominic's Birthday Party

Image
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOMINIC It was actually Dominic's birthday on the 25th. We had a birthday party for him on the 22nd. (Saturday). I spent a few late evenings getting his pinata ready in time. Especially that last night, in which I went to bed at 1:30 am, got up again at 4:30 am to finish priming, and was back at work painting at around 8:30 am. I think it was worth it. But I'll let you judge for yourselves. I'll post some more pics later, maybe, when (if) I have time. Right now, I am having some trouble just getting them up. Computers!!! Grrrr.

Bogspot-Haven for Pedophiles...

Image
Just received a message from some concerned fellow-bloggers about a whole list of pedophile bloggers blogging out there in defense and support of pedophilia. Just you wait, in 50 years, these won't be minority underground defenders of the right to be a pedophile (and how natural and good it is, blah blah blah, to be a pedophile...) If this keeps up, as long as everyone concerned (child included) is "consenting" this will become a perfectly normal, acceptable life-style and anyone who says otherwise, will be treated as a pedo-phobe and be accused of promoting hate towards pedophiles. All of these self-proclaimed pedophiles insist that they are harming noone, that they do not molest children, that as long as the child is not forced to do anything he doesn't want to, there is no harm. You know, I have nothing against finding children beautiful, (don't we all?) but to be sexually attracted to them? That's a whole other matter. Children are not ready for sex at tha

Island Tales

Image
Some days I think I'd like to go back to civilization. And then suddenly, I am reminded of the brainless chittering that goes on in our consumerist society. Instead of going for what lasts, society prefers disposable. Disposable diapers, disposable "swiffers", disposable relationships, disposable sex. And then, suddenly I prefer the quiet of my island. I have no desire to even have a romantic relationship. I think I no longer believe in love. Or at least, I think very few men out there prefer the non-disposable kind of love. I am dis-enchanted. I prefer to be single than to even try having some kind of relationship. I believe I am better off alone. I had a husband once. He didn't make it to the island, he couldn't swim very well. He's gone on to a better place. I hope. Yes, I had a husband once. There is a time for everything, and for everything a place. I do not believe I am called to go back to that. I do not desire to sacrifice myself for someone who misun

What's up?

I played soccer again last night. I started last week. It feels so good to get back into some kind of sport again. I missed that. Soccer games are never earlier than 7:30 pm, so Marc is able to get home before then. YAHOOOOOO!!!!! Yes, well,... mghm-mmm... In other news,... I went to the fabric store today and bought some cotton flannelette and other odds and ends to make diapers with. I intend on starting that soon. Hopefully. I also intend on finishing the painting of the boys' room and of course getting started on a Caillou pinata for Gabriel. Intentions are great aren't they? Let's see how much of this stuff we actually get done... I had better get off the computer now and stop procrastinating.

Islam spread peacefully?

CAIRO (Reuters) - Muslims deplored on Friday remarks on Islam by Pope Benedict and many of them said the Catholic leader should apologize in person to dispel the impression that he had joined a campaign against their religion. In a speech in Germany on Tuesday, the Pope appeared to endorse a Christian view, contested by most Muslims, that the early Muslims spread their religion by violence. "The Pope of the Vatican joins in the Zionist-American alliance against Islam," said the leading Moroccan daily Attajdid, the main Islamist newspaper in the kingdom."We demand that he apologizes personally, and not through (Vatican) sources, to all Muslims for such a wrong interpretation," said Beirut-based Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah, one of the world's top Shi'ite Muslim clerics. Read more... Well, gee, duh. Didn't they? Do these Muslims not learn any history in the schools they go to? Or have they just conveniently forgotten? How about the invasion of Spain i

In memory of those who died...

No matter our political background, no matter our faith, no matter our opinion, on events that have happened since, this should never have happened. This was not the answer. I just pray today: For those who were left behind, for those who believe terrorism is an option, for those who make them believe such a thing, directly or indirectly, and for true peace and justice in our world. Editing (after reading some of what is out there): Terrorism is wrong. It is evil. It does not solve your problems, it makes them worse and it hurts a lot of innocent people in the crossfire. But what to do about terrorism? Liberals call for dialogue while conservatives snort at the idea and ask how can you dialogue with someone who wants to kill you? But, I ask, how does one go to war on terrorism? Isn't that like going to war on rape? Are you going to invade countries that seem to be hotspots for rape? How does one go to war on terrorism without hurting a lot of innocent people in the crossfire. It&#

Of books

I just recently went on a book spree. I haven't had much to read in awhile and then came across some interesting (to me) books over the internet, as well as one long-awaited sequel that has finally come out in bookstores... So without really planning it, I suddenly ended up with this whole list of books (some of which have yet to arrive) to read: I just finished Arms of Love by Carmen Marcoux. I am currently reading A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon. I have yet to read Au Pays des Roseaux (French version of Place of Reeds ) by Caitlin Davies and Fighting for Dear Life by David Gibbs. I am waiting for Escape from Slavery by Francis Bok and In Contempt of Fate by Beatrice Fernando to arrive. There you have it, my reading list. As we say in Moose Factory: "Ever good me eh?"

Crackpots

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck. One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house." The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I

We are re-doing the deck for the pool, and Gabriel wanted to help the other day, so I fished out the little electronic play drill...

Who needs...

... to (ahem) have relations with their spouse when there is this? Avon Naturals Gel shower-Vanilla Yes it really is all that. (Almost) Ahhhhhhh.... Although I must still encourage all good catholic couples (er... make that all good pro-life couples, because we'll need the help of protestants, muslims etc, too) to continue relating with their spouses, and to have as many children as possible, because otherwise we won't be able to take the world back. Oops did I just reveal our secret conspiracy back there?
